Dr. Dale Bredesen was interviewed by Jason Wachob, host of the MindbodyGreen Podcast, and they discussed the important role Vitamin D plays in preventing cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s. Dr. Bredesen explained how studies are linking vitamin D deficiency and both dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. He also said that increased exposure to the sun and an adjusted diet don’t always fill the gap, and most adults will need to take a supplement to bring their levels up. He also added that a whopping 29 percent of Americans are deficient in Vitamin D, and another 41 percent are insufficient in this critical nutrient for brain health.
