For many participants in the ReCODE program, KetoFLEX 12/3 has become more than simply a way of eating; it is part of a comprehensive strategy designed to optimize brain health. Yet an important question often arises: Why is this dietary approach so central to the program?

Our newly published peer-reviewed Perspective helps answer that question. Rather than simply describing what to eat, it explains why each component of KetoFLEX 12/3 was chosen and how these dietary principles work together to support the brain. The publication brings together decades of research on metabolism, inflammation, mitochondrial function, insulin resistance, vascular health, the gut-brain axis, circadian biology, ketosis, and nutritional biochemistry into a single scientific framework for precision nutrition in Alzheimer’s disease.

Importantly, this publication builds upon our previous peer-reviewed studies describing the ReCODE program and its clinical outcomes. Together, our publications establish the conceptual, mechanistic, and clinical foundation underlying ReCODE and KetoFLEX 12/3. Our earlier work demonstrated that a personalized, multimodal approach could improve cognitive and metabolic outcomes in many individuals. This newest publication explains the biological rationale that supports one of its most important pillars, the dietary intervention.

For participants already following KetoFLEX 12/3, this publication offers reassurance that the dietary recommendations are not based on dietary trends or popular opinion. Each recommendation reflects a synthesis of current evidence regarding the biological processes that contribute to cognitive decline. While no single intervention can prevent or reverse Alzheimer’s disease on its own, nutrition influences many of the interconnected pathways involved in brain aging. The goal of KetoFLEX 12/3 is not simply to lower carbohydrates or increase healthy fats; it is to create a metabolic environment that supports brain resilience and metabolic flexibility while reducing factors that promote neurodegeneration.
