Tahini Sauce Recipe

Fall in love with this creamy, versatile, antioxidant-rich sauce that elevates veggies, proteins, and wraps with brain-healthy fats and anti-inflammatory spices. Tahini is rich in sesame lignans and vitamin E, which help reduce oxidative stress and support neuronal membrane integrity. The olive oil adds polyphenols that enhance cerebral blood flow, while garlic, turmeric, and lemon contribute anti-inflammatory and detox-supportive compounds. Together, they deliver rich, satisfying flavor while nourishing both mind and body.
Tahini Sauce
Yield: Twelve (1 Tbsp) Servings
Tips:
- Toss with shredded cabbage or kale for a creamy, brain-healthy slaw.
- Use as a dip for crudités like cucumber, celery, and bell pepper sticks.
- Spread inside collard or lettuce wraps with chicken, lamb, or veggies.
- Spoon over grilled fish, shrimp, or lamb kabobs for a rich, nutty finish.
- Add to cauliflower rice bowls with greens or avocado.
- Thin to make a quick dressing.
- Mix in spices (ginger-lime for Asian flair or smoked paprika-cumin for Mediterranean flavor).
- Swirl into scrambled eggs or omelets for an extra dose of healthy fats.
- Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. If some separation has occurred, just stir before serving.
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup tahini (sesame seed paste)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 tsp ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 1/4 tsp hot sauce (optional)
- 1 ½ oz fresh lemon juice (about 3 tbsp)
- 1/3 cup filtered water, more as needed
- 2 tbsp high-polyphenol extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO), more as needed
Directions:
- In a medium bowl or small food processor, combine tahini, garlic, salt, cumin, turmeric, EVOO, and hot sauce (if using).
- Whisk or blend while slowly adding lemon juice and water, alternating until smooth.
- Adjust with additional water or EVOO until you reach your desired consistency — thicker for dipping, thinner for drizzling or dressing.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
